Branson is in the Ozark Mountains. It is a small city in Stone and Taney Counties in the state of Missouri. Most of the city is in Taney County, with a small portion in the west extending into Stone County. Branson is located at Lat: 36.637706 / Long: -93.254965. The population was 10,520 at the 2010 census.

The community was named after Ruben S. Branson, postmaster and operator of a general store in the area in the 1880s. Richard Branson, the English founder of Virgin airlines recently discovered that Reuben S. Branson was his great-great-uncle.

Most recently Branson was selected #15 TripAdvisor 2015 TRAVELLERS' CHOICE Top 25 Destinations - United States.
